Supporting Your Writing
The Writing Center exists to support writers at all stages of the writing process. An experienced writing consultant will work with you during an individualized appointment that focuses on customizing comments to each student in a supportive environment.
What does a typical session look like?
A session with the Writing Center will put your needs first and formost. You drive the session and tell us what you want to focus on while your professional writing tutor offers support and insight along the way. You might find yourself working on the following types of assignments and writing techniques:
• Essays
• Rhetorical Analysis
• Speech Outlines
• Short Responses
• Content
• Organization
• Language & Grammar
• Citations (MLA, APA, etc.)
Where do I go for a session?
The Writing Center is located in the Academic Center on the fourth (4th) floor of the Charlotte campus. Sign in to the Academic Support Center's front desk and meet with writing tutors in the suite at the back. Students also have the option to conduct sessions online via Zoom.
You can book a session at any time during the ASC office hours. The Writing Center allows for scheduled appointments and walk-in appointments from 9am until 4pm, every day of the week with virtual Fridays.
