Welcome to Johnson & Wales University’s Charlotte Campus summer intern housing program at Cedar Hall South. Located just 7 blocks from Uptown Charlotte, this location is the perfect housing option for a college student participating in a summer internship program.
Residents should be able to complete all of their daily tasks without a vehicle. Amenities in walking distance include restaurants, a Harris Teeter grocery store, numerous dry cleaners, a CVS Pharmacy, along with a variety of sports and entertainment establishments. The Gold Line street car is one block away and provides access to Uptown and surrounding communities.
Finding affordable and safe housing in a center city urban environment during the summer months can be a challenging task. Our goal at JWU is to make this process smooth and your stay with us an enjoyable one.

Accommodations & Amenities
Summer Accommodations
Our summer housing is in Cedar Hall South, which is located at 215 S. Cedar Street, Charlotte, NC. The suite-style units can accommodate two to five residents. A 4-person suite has two bedrooms with two beds in room A & B, desks, chairs, dressers and a Microfridge and a shared bathroom. A 5-person suite has two bedrooms with two beds in room A, 3 beds in room B, desks, chairs, dressers, a wardrobe and a Microfridge and a shared bathroom. All residential halls are air conditioned.
Each resident hall offers a large community/game room as well as a community kitchen. Washers and dryers are available on each floor and accept credit cards.
Dining Services
Our Caf to Go location at Cedar Hall is the most convenient and affordable dining option for dinner options on campus. Mobile ordering is open Sunday-Friday from 6-8:30pm.
Meal combos available from mobile order Transact App (you can sign-on with your JWU credentials) include entrée, side and beverage. The menu rotates periodically and includes pizzas, burgers, tenders, salads, wraps, pastas, quesadillas, rice bowls, fries, specialty drinks and more.
A 10 Combo meal plan with 20 Flex Dollars (use in vending OR mobile order) is included in the price of your room.
Opt-in to have more meals included during your stay:
- $250: 30 Combo meals + 30 Flex Dollars
- $390: 40 Combo meals + 40 Flex Dollars
- $580: 60 Combo meals + 60 Flex Dollars
Gym & Fitness Facilities
Gym and fitness facilitie are accessible to summer interns during operating hours 9am-4pm, Monday-Thursday. Our facilities are equipped with a weight room and basketball court. Residents will have access to a 24/7 fitness room in the halls that is equipped with weights and cardio machines.
To ensure a safe environment for all residents, card access is required to gain entry to the residence hall and to access residential rooms.
Parking
There is convenient parking available at a discounted rate in our secured access parking deck across the street from the residential hall. Registration for parking will open on April 15, 2026.
Purchase a parking pass. This process opens on April 15th for JWU summer interns.
Summer 2026 Program Dates
The program runs from Sunday, May 31, 2026 to Saturday, August 8, 2026.After the initial check-in date (Sunday, May 31st, 2026), check-in can occur on the following Saturdays from 9am to 5pm.

- Saturday, June 13th, 2026
- Saturday, June 20th, 2026
Minimum length of stay is 45 nights.
Room Rates
The summer housing program offers single, double and triple occupancy.
- Triple occupancy: $29 a day per occupant
3-person bedroom with a bunk bed in a 5-person suite - Double occupancy: $39 per day per occupant
Double occupancy is a two-person bedroom in a 4- or 5-person suite - Single occupancy: $59 per day, per occupant
Single occupancy is a one-person bedroom in a 4- or 5-person suite
Rates include utilities, Wi-Fi access, 10 combo meals from the Caf to Go, and access to our gym facilities.

Terms and Requirements
To be eligible for summer housing, all applicants must be a graduate or undergraduate student currently enrolled in a summer internship located in Charlotte or the surrounding area. Keep in mind that you must stay for a minimum of 45 nights; beyond that, room rental dates can be tailored to align with your internship dates.
- A $100 non-refundable registration fee is required to confirm a reservation. Once we reach capacity, a waitlist will be created.
- Housing fee, based on the number of room days is due no later than Friday, March 20, 2026.
- All residents must return a signed copy of JWU’s Summer Internship Housing Program Agreement prior to the payment deadline. The agreement will be sent electronically within 5 business days of receiving your registration fee to the resident's email address on file.
- The last day to make changes to your arrival and/or departure dates will be on Friday, March 20, 2026. Date changes must be within the program dates of May 31-August 8, 2026 and must be made in writing.
- If you cancel on or before Friday, March 27th, 2026, you will receive a full refund of all payments made except for the non-refundable registration fee. After this date, all payments will be non-refundable.
- To use our gym & fitness room facilities, you will be required to sign a waiver at check in.
- To make changes or cancel, you must contact us by email. Changes and cancellations will only be accepted via email.

The Summer Intern Housing Application will open on January 5, 2026 at noon. Please note that we fill very quickly. Once the capacity is reached, applicants will be added to a waitlist. The waitlist will close on March 27th.

Payments can be made by credit card on a secure site or by check. Instructions for payment will be included in your acceptance email that will be forwarded upon receipt of your application for housing form.
