Welcome to Johnson & Wales University’s Charlotte Campus summer intern housing program at Cedar Hall South. Located just 7 blocks from Uptown Charlotte, this location is the perfect housing option for a college student participating in a summer internship program.

Residents should be able to complete all of their daily tasks without a vehicle. Amenities in walking distance include restaurants, a Harris Teeter grocery store, numerous dry cleaners, a CVS Pharmacy, along with a variety of sports and entertainment establishments. The Gold Line street car is one block away and provides access to Uptown and surrounding communities.

Finding affordable and safe housing in a center city urban environment during the summer months can be a challenging task. Our goal at JWU is to make this process smooth and your stay with us an enjoyable one.

Accommodations & Amenities

Summer accommodations will be in either Cedar Hall North or South located at Cedar & 4th Streets. The suite-style units can accommodate 2-4 residents. Each suite has two bedrooms with two beds, desks, chairs, dressers and a Microfridge and a shared bathroom. 

Each resident hall offers a large community/game room as well as a community kitchen. Washers and dryers are available on each floor and accept credit cards.  

We have 24/7 vending in our Caf to Go, located adjacent to our dining center in Cedar Hall North.  This includes iced and hot espresso drinks, hot meals and meal bundles that you can purchase with the use of a credit/debit card. 

Summer interns will have access to our gym facilities during operating hours. Our facilities are equipped with a weight room and basketball court.

To ensure a safe environment for all residents, card access is required to gain entry to the residence hall and to access residential rooms. There is convenient parking available at a discounted rate in our secured access parking deck across the street from the residential hall.  Registration for parking will open on April 1, 2025.

 

Program Dates

The program runs from Saturday, May 17, 2025 to Saturday, August 9, 2025. Check-in can occur Monday – Thursday from 8:30am – 4:30pm. For a check-in time outside of these days/hours, you will be required to make an appointment.

Minimum length of stay is 45 nights.You can move in and out in between and including these dates with the following exceptions:

  • May 23-26, 2025 (Memorial Day holiday)
  • July 4- 6, 2025 (Independence Day holiday)

Room Rates & Fees

The summer housing program offers single and double occupancy. The rate for double occupancy is $35 per night per occupant, the rate for single occupancy is $56 per night, per occupant. Double occupancy is 4 per suite and single occupancy is 2 per suite. Rates include utilities, Wi-Fi access and access to our gym facilities.  

  • A $100 NON-REFUNDABLE registration fee is required to confirm a reservation.
  • Housing fee, based on the number of room nights is due no later than Thursday, April 4, 2025. Please note that there are NO refunds after April 4, 2025.

Payment Options

Payments can be made by credit card on a secure site or by check. Instructions for payment will be included in your acceptance email that will be forwarded upon receipt of your application for housing form.

 

Terms and Requirements

To be eligible for summer housing, all applicants must be a graduate or undergraduate student currently enrolled in a summer internship located in Charlotte or the surrounding area. Keep in mind that you must stay for a minimum of 45 nights; beyond that, room rental dates can be tailored to align with your internship dates. 

  • A $100 non-refundable registration fee is required to confirm a reservation. Once we reach capacity a waitlist will be created.
  • All residents must return a signed copy of JWU’s Summer Internship Housing Program Agreement prior to the payment deadline. The agreement will be sent electronically within 5 business days of receiving your registration fee to the resident's email address on file.  
  • The last day to make changes to your arrival and/or departure dates will be on Thursday, April 4, 2025. Date changes must be within the program dates of May 17 – August 9, 2025 and must be made in writing.
  • If you cancel on or before Thursday, April 4, 2025 you will receive a full refund of all payments made except for the non-refundable registration fee. After this date, all payments will be non-refundable.
  • To use our gym facilities, you will be required to sign a waiver.
  • To make changes or cancel, you must contact us by email.Changes and cancellations will only be accepted via email.
