My College Memory

My best college experience came through the memories and experiences I had outside the classroom by getting involved in and around my campus community. These experiences occurred when I became more involved with student clubs on campus, which then led me to study abroad for a semester and participate in community service, mission trips and internship opportunities.

Because of this I met people, saw places and did incredible things that I would never have imagined myself doing when I first became a college student. In short: I encourage every college student to challenge themselves and step outside their comfort zones. You never know what is waiting for you on the other side!

My College Memory

I was part of a program called the Write Start Program my freshman year of college, a program geared to students who wanted to enhance their writing skills through a writing intensive and have an easier transition into college.

It meant that I had to move into college three weeks early and take a class that would count towards my general education credits. I ended up excelling in college and was asked by the dean to speak to a room of 30 prospective students and their families who were interested in the university about the program and my success.

I believe my ability to write at a high level in college was directly related to this program. It certainly got me on the “Write Start.”

My College Memory

Without a doubt, the best experience that I had in college was meeting lifelong friends. Even though college was a while ago, the friendships that I made were some of the most important ones of my lifetime.

My College Memory

My most memorable experience in college was being told that I had to take a special writing class. After attending high school, I just assumed I knew how to write. Well, the school hired a young English major from Brooklyn to teach a group of us to write with clarity. At first, I didn’t want to take the class, but I did it and followed all the rules. I walked away with new skills and a friendship that has lasted a lifetime.

Sometimes as young students, we think we know everything. College is a path that will prepare you for so much more. With an open mind, the sky is the limit. Remember to listen and learn.
