Michael Sabitoni's insight and vigorous attentiveness to industry innovation makes him a popular resource within the trade circuit. He has Emeritus status with The International Society of Travel & Tourism Educators (ISTTE), where he served as President, Vice President, and Chairman of the Board of Directors. In 2014, ISTTE presented him with the Martin Oppermann Memorial Award for Lifetime Achievement, an award presented once every three years. He is a member of the Rhode Island Hospitality Education Foundation Board of Directors. For eight years, he served as a member of the Rhode Island Hospitality Association (RIHA) Board of Directors.
