Rex Warren brings over 30 years of extensive executive experience in the hotel industry into the classroom.  His extensive corporate leadership roles have included finance and accounting, financial planning and analysis, strategic planning, owner relations, acquisitions and transitions, feasibility, benchmarking, and business process reengineering.  For the last 12 years of his career, Professor Warren was the CFO of Starwood Hotels and Resorts North America division, supporting the 11 brands and over 450 hotels in the division.

Since joining JWU in 2009, Professor Warren has been extensively involved in the ongoing improvement and refinement of the curriculum, working to assure that the courses and learning objectives of our undergraduate and graduate programs in Hospitality Management line up with the changing needs of industry.  In addition, he has developed an extensive catalog of case studies each of which is based on actual situations, that bring the challenges and opportunities of the real world into the classroom.

Professor Warren is a Six Sigma Master Black Belt and has co-published in the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Cases, "The Broken Restaurant – a Task Force Case Study," (2015) and "Hotel Benchmarking Task Force – a Case Study," (2016). His dissertation was entitled "Occupancy Forecasting Methods and the use of Expert Judgement in Hotel Revenue Management," (2017). He is also a licensed CPA and holds the Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE), Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics (CHIA), and Certification in Hospitality Business Acumen (CHBA) and Cornell University certificate in Hotel Real Estate Investment and Asset Management
