Jeff has had a varied and impactful career at the University of Rhode Island, serving in numerous roles focused on student development and advancement. In his role at the University of Rhode Island, Jeff Johnson serves as a primary expert and advocate on diversity, equity, and inclusion within the athletics department.
He advises the athletic director, department leaders, employees, and coaching staff on all matters related to diversity, equity, and inclusion and is responsible for creating and administering initiatives and programs that provide student-athletes with opportunities for personal and professional growth, including life skills development, leadership formation, career exploration, and community engagement. Known as "Coach J" due to his experience coaching college basketball, he has a strong passion for life skill development for college students.
Jeff values the leadership lessons he learned as a successful student athlete and has dedicated his career to encouraging students to take advantage of the education and leadership opportunities offered by athletics and higher education institutions.
