Jonathan Walker is the Director of Sports Sales for the Rhode Island Sports Commission, a division of the Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau (PWCVB). This transplant Rhode Islander doesn't have a thick New England accent, didn't grow up on Del's Lemonade, and had no idea what coffee milk or a cabinet were before arriving at JWU's Providence campus in the summer of 2010, where he earned a BS in Sports, Entertainment, and Event Management and a subsequent MBA in Hospitality Management.
Before joining the Rhode Island Sports Commission, Jonathan helped attract visitors to the Capital city's Amica Mutual Pavilion with PSE Agency, a sports marketing firm that owns and operates the AHL's Providence Bruins. He also helped to fill Pawtucket's McCoy Stadium with fans and families in a sales and services role with the Boston Red Sox's Triple-A affiliate.
Today, with nearly a decade of experience bringing visitors to Rhode Island's finest public assembly facilities, it's hard to find an individual more familiar with the destination's market conditions or more passionate about bolstering RI's reputation as a premier sports destination. Walker is a certified Sports Tourism Strategist (STS) through the Sports Events & Tourism Association and an honorary member of Destinations International's 2022 class of 30 Under 30.
Working in tandem with the PWCVB's sales, services, marketing and partnership teams, Jonathan offers a myriad of services to sports event organizers and rights holders to ensure a successful outing. Despite his love for Providence and the Ocean State, the Pennsylvania native has extreme hubris for Philadelphia sports franchises.
