Events DC - Vice President, Convention Management


Rhonda Whyte is the vice president of convention management with Events DC, the official convention and sports authority for the District of Columbia. In her current role as Vice President of Convention Management at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Rhonda oversees the execution of conventions, meetings and events and the curation of exceptional customer experience. She leads convention management, event operations and production services, with a 23-person team ensuring flawless execution of over 140 events annually and more than 750,000 attendees.      

Prior to her current role, Rhonda was the Director of Sales and Marketing for the University of Maryland Alumni Association, overseeing the sales, marketing, event operations and the financial success of the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center. She also worked with the Hilton brand; Sodexo, formally, Centerplate, numerous associations; and as an Independent Contractor with non-profits, associations, and private clients.   

Rhonda has a Master of Science in Managerial Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Sales and Meeting Management from Johnson and Wales University, Providence RI. 

Rhonda is a wife, a mother and grandmother.
