Student Checklist for 2024 Commencement Exercises

 

Before Commencement:

  Check email and announcements often through jwuLink  for university updates.

 

Review your GPS/Degree Audit

For participation in the May 2024 Commencement ceremony and inclusion in the Commencement program, degree-seeking students must fall into one of the following categories:


  • The student is awarded a degree in the fall 2024 semester.

  • The student is enrolled in the spring 2024 semester and, as of March 13, 2024, has an expected degree completion semester of spring 2024, summer 2024 or fall 2024.

 

Submit a Graduation Application

In jwuLink, go to Pages > Student Account > Graduation Application at least one semester prior to program completion.

 

Loan Exit Counseling

If you have no federal loans or you have a graduation term of summer or fall , bypass the exit counseling.  

 

Step 1: Complete Student Loan Exit Counseling (if spring semester is your final term of enrollment and if you have student loans)

  1. View your student loans (Financial Aid Review button)
  2. Complete exit counseling (follow link & instructions).
  3. PRINT proof of completion

Step 2 Complete The Outcomes Survey (undergraduate spring grads only)

Invitations will be emailed from "JWU Institutional Research" beginning in April.

  • Follow instructions to complete this very brief survey, which asks what you are doing after graduation (working, pursuing an advanced degree, etc.).

  • PRINT proof of completion.

AS degree students continuing for a BS degree at JWU are not required to complete this survey.

 

Order your Cap and Gown Now

You have two options to order your cap and gown. In both cases, you will pay for and pick up your cap and gown in the Village Bookstore.

1. You can place your order online on the Herff Jones reservation website. Herff Jones will ship your order to the Village Bookstore where you will pay for and pick the up. The deadline to order online is March 15, 2024.

2. Your second option is to go directly to the Village Bookstore to purchase your regalia. In the event your size is not in stock, the Bookstore will place an order on your behalf and contact you for pickup.

2024 cap and gown pricing:
* Associates (cap, gown & tassel) - $41
* Bachelor's (cap, gown, tassel & hood) - $70
   

 

Check Your Status

You are urged to check your financial account status with SFS prior to Commencement. All financial obligations (including library and athletic fees) must be met in order to receive your diploma.
