ulearn Tool Integrations

ulearn supports a variety of third-party tools through building blocks or learning tools interoperability (LTI) integrations. 

LTI 1.3 Third-Party Integration Publisher Tools

Third-party publisher tool integrations are available in ulearn courses including McGraw-Hill Connect, Cengage Learning, MacMillan Achieve, FA Davis, and Elsevier. View the Publisher Integrations User Guides page for more information about utilizing third-party tools in ulearn.

Building Block (B2) Third-Party Integrations

Blackboard is in the process of retiring all building blocks (B2) with newer LTI integrations. LTI integrations offer improved performance and interoperability between ulearn and vendor-supplied functionality. Most tool migrations require instructors to remove old building block tool links and add new LTI tool links in ulearn courses. The table below provides additional details about the migration of third-party tools in ulearn.

Pearson B2 to Pearson LTI	11/3/2023 - The New Pearson LTI 1.3 tool is made available in all ulearn courses. Pearson B2 linked content will continue to function as normal for the Fall 2023 semester. 12/18/23 – The old Pearson B2 tool will be deactivated and removed from ulearn. Old Pearson B2 links in ulearn courses will no longer function. Pearson B2 tool links on ulearn course menus will be automatically removed from courses. Pearson B2 links within content areas must be deleted and replaced using the new Pearson LTI 1.3 tool.	Pearson LTI tool in ulearn User Guide	11/3/2023
LinkedIn Learning B2 to Linkedin Learning LTI	10/2/2023 - New LinkedIn Learning LTI 1.3 is available for all ulearn courses.  12/18/2023 - old LinkedIn Learning B2 deactivated and old LinkedIn Learning links in ulearn courses will no longer function. LinkedIn Learning B2 links must be deleted and replaced using the new LinkedIn Learning LTI 1.3 tool.	LinkedIn Learning: Search and Add Videos to ulearn Courses	12/18/2023
Kaltura B2  to  Kaltura LTI	Kaltura B2 videos in ulearn will need to be replaced using the new Kaltura LTI 1.3 tool. Old Kaltura B2 linked videos will no longer function in ulearn courses.  Conversion of Kaltura B2 videos to Kaltura LTI  video links will start during the spring 2024 semester. JWU Roster Report (Custom B2 Tool)	The JWU Roster Report in ulearn will be sunsetted at the end of the Fall 2023 semester. Instructors can obtain the same information about their students from uSucceed and Roster Reports in jwuLink.	View Roster Report page in jwuLink	12/18/2023

 

 

LTI Third-Party Integration Upgrades

Several ulearn external tool integrations are scheduled for an upgrade from LTI 1.1 to LTI 1.3. The version upgrade is recommended to meet the latest learning tools standards. Core functionality and features should not undergo too many changes. Most tool migrations require instructors to remove old LTI 1.1 tool links and add new LTI 1.3 tool links in ulearn courses. The table below provides additional details about the upgrade of external LTI 1.1 to LTI 1.3 tools in ulearn.

Interested in having a third-party tool added to ulearn? Third-party tools in ulearn have to be approved by Academics through the Provost Office. Work with your department/college chair or dean to start the request process.
